Bihar Assembly Election 2025: Political activity regarding the seat-sharing arrangement within the Indian alliance in Bihar has reached its peak. Meetings are ongoing between the major allies, and the process is now moving toward a final decision. Intense discussions are underway, particularly between the RJD, VIP, CPI(ML), and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), with each seat being carefully considered.

RJD-VIP tussle over seats

Seat-sharing talks between the RJD and the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) are in a crucial stage. Sources indicate that the RJD has offered approximately 18 seats to the VIP, an improvement over its previous offer. However, VIP chief Mukesh Sahni is not satisfied with this and is demanding 25 seats, which he considers practical and politically feasible.

The main focus is on the Mithila and Tirhut divisions

However, the main focus of these meetings is on the Mithila and Tirhut divisions, where the VIP's influence has traditionally been strong. In light of this, Mukesh Sahni himself is engaging directly with Tejashwi Yadav to secure his party's interests. Two rounds of marathon meetings have already taken place between ML) and RJD regarding seat allocation. These meetings are attempting to determine a formula based on the candidates' winnability, past performance, and organizational strength.

The CPI(ML) is contesting approximately 30 seats this time, including some where RJD candidates previously contested. The RJD has also identified some seats for reconsideration, especially those it lost in the previous election. The CPI(ML) argues that it contested 19 seats in 2020 and, given its increased popularity, it should receive a larger share this time.

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha

(JMM) is being given a place in the Grand Alliance (Grand Alliance) in Bihar politics this time. This will be the first time the JMM will contest the Bihar Assembly elections with the RJD-led alliance. However, any seats allotted to the JMM will come from the RJD's quota. The JMM's share will be made public once an agreement is reached between the other major parties – Congress, VIP, and CPI(ML).

The alliance's focus is on balance and victory

The alliance is prioritizing a winning strategy, not just political participation, in seat allocation this time. Each seat is being analyzed based on local influence, social dynamics, and past performance. The aim is not only to ensure fair representation for all allies but also to ensure the alliance has a clear advantage in the election results.
